Abstract

From the use of participatory techniques, were identified the problemátics that face great part
of farmers of San Sebastian Villanueva, Puebla, México according to misuse resources in nopal
and tuna (Opuntia Ficus-indica (L.) Mill) cultivation. A purpose of strategic planning was established
to solved many of them. Main situacións detected were: acumulation of tuna which
was not sold (called second and third category) due to several situations: market fluctuations,
defects un fruits affecting their quality and others. These situacions have caused that nopal and
tuna affected be discarded in “barrancas” and landfill promoting its low decomposition and a big
pollution problem, therefore this work is a propose for correct use of losses by generating several
products ( composts and other agroecological products) and designing a scheme that guarantees
100% utilization to prevent waste due to expiry and generating and extra profit to farmers.
