For a daily quality food, it is possible to insert agrobiodiversity products, such as “Non Conventional Food Plants” (PANC) and “Creole varieties”, which can be consumed in different preparations and also in natura. In many homes, women are responsible for preparing food by growing in backyards, a tradition that spans generations, emphasizing its importance in the conservation of these varieties and knowledge. With modernity and also with the selection and genetic improvement process, many plants, already cultivated and consumed, were forgotten. In view of this problem, it was proposed to discuss the knowledge and consumption of these plants with participants from the Protection and Comprehensive Family Care Service (PAIF) at the Reference Center for Social Assistance (CRAS) in Bom Retiro do Sul, in the Taquari Valley /LOL. Workshops were held with theoretical presentation and botanical identification of the PANCs, aiming to contribute to a healthy and diversified diet, promoting a rescue of plants that were already part of the families' food culture. The discussion on how to take advantage of the benefits happened through popular tradition and culinary recipes prepared during two days of the workshop, with an average of 60 people. We sought to encourage, in addition to consumption, the cultivation and preservation of species. The workshop provided an opening for dialogue to exchange knowledge, in addition to contributing to the conservation of agrobiodiversity.
