Abstract

The electrical conductivity test, which is a quick and practical way to assess the vigor of seeds, can be easily carried out in most seed laboratories, without major expenses on equipment and training of personnel. This work aimed to evaluate the efficiency of the electrical conductivity test in the distinction of crotalaria seed lots as a function of the imbibition period. Three seed lots and two imbibition periods were used for the conductivity test, in addition to this, the germination test and first germination count. The conductivity test allows to differentiate seed lots in terms of vigor; the conductivity values increase as a function of the imbibition time and very high values were obtained at 48 hours, and periods shorter than those studied should be tested.Tradução do resumo para o inglês.
