Abstract

This work aims to describe the group certification process, with the purpose of documenting this experience to serve as a basis for valuing the products of traditional communities, finally, seeks to reflect on the importance of native seeds in the conservation of agrobiodiversity in the Amazon. The study was carried out in the Alto Urupadí region, in the municipality of Maués. The research consisted of a sociological and ethnographic study. The results show that the most cultivated agricultural species are guarana and cassava that are imbricated in the traditional agricultural system. This system acquires a special meaning, because the residents combine the multiple management of the environments and a diversity of cultivated plants and now move to an important phase, the organic certification of guarana. The traditional management carried out was understood as a social innovation, so its products are differentiated and can access the national and international markets.
