Teaching agroforestry: farming agroecology in school

Abstract

Experience is a project conducted by Fellows of Green Room Environmental Integration Centre
with the project “space with green smell.” The area of agroforestry is at school of Comprehensive
Care Center for Children and Adolescents – CAIC Paulo Dacorso Filho, located on the
campus of UFRRJ, where the goal was to recover the area with degraded soil and transform
the space into a learning tool with activities of agroecological practices and contact with nature,
encouraging an ecological awareness. Accompanied these activities, the implementation
of space resulted in the condition to develop other parallel and independent projects of other
fellows and interns, as well as the school environment teachers. The experience provided the
inclusion of the school community in the environment, allowing the realization of an ecological,
social and cultural learning.
