Abstract

This work aims to understand the obstacles in the field of traditional seeds, from the migration process of family farmers in the Southeast of Pará, highlighting the importance of the Amazonian IALA in its recovery and conservation. An analysis was carried out with family farmers, retrieving their trajectories and highlighting their relations with the Amazonian IALA through semi-structured interviews. A difficulty was found in finding farmers who still persist with their seeds, which, in addition to other obstacles, is a process that was certainly a consequence of what we call loss through migration. Thus, Amazonian IALA has contributed to the recovery and maintenance of traditional seeds, seeking to become a center of convergence of experiences, working together with farmers in the production, storage and distribution of seeds, as well as in carrying out other actions such as building fairs and training courses.
