Abstract

Community Seed Banks (CSB) are an important strategy to face the effects of drought and to guarantee seed for planting at the right time. This article aims to analyze the diversity of native bean seeds (Phaseolus lunatus L.) in the CSB Network of the Territory of Borborema-PB. The data were collected from the 61 BSC managers, from Dec./2019 to Feb./2020, using the CSB Monitoring System. The broad bean is the second species in diversity, with 29 varieties in the 12 municipalities, with 768,96kg, corresponding to 8,30% of the stock. Three municipalities (Solânea, Queimadas and Alagoa Nova) store 495,69kg, 64,46% of the broad bean stock, with Queimadas showing the greatest diversity, with 11 varieties. Thirteen varieties have a critical stock, varying between 2,00kg and 0,2kg, representing 2,2% of the stock, needing, urgently, their multiplication, to avoid genetic erosion.
