Abstract

By the hands of women, approximately 10,000 years ago agriculture emerged, which over the years has been practiced and improved by farmers, through the observation of nature and empirical experimentation, where they have been adapting varieties of seeds in the world. Agroecology presents itself as an alternative to the capitalist development model, especially in relation to the problem of the monopoly on the sale of seeds by multinationals and the loss of agrobiodiversity. This work aims to report the experience of the Seed House of the Riacho do Meio Community, located in the municipality of Choró-CE. In the search for autonomy in the face of the state seed distribution policy, in 2003 the seed house of the Riacho do Meio farmers appeared. The seeds that will be used in the next crops are adequately stored there. The Seed Houses play an important role in preserving the rescue not only of the seeds, but of the popular culture that resists in preserving the Creole seeds.
