Abstract

We know that the northern region of Brazil is rich in fauna and flora and that this wealth must be protected and known, in addition, there is a particularity of production systems that are recognized as sustainable and allow the coexistence of species, whether in agroecological gardens or monocultures. This work sought to carry out a survey of caboclo populations of corn, cassava and beans cultivated by traditional farmers in the region of the Amanari River, Urucará, in search of local knowledge and varieties for in situ conservation. In view of the great genetic erosion that is experienced today, carrying out the conservation of plant materials that are little used is of fundamental importance for use in future improvements. To develop this research, the methodology of the Participative Rural Diagnosis was adopted, allowing to reach the survey of 64 vegetal species divided in 33 botanical families in properties no bigger than 10 hectares.
