School garden with agroecological practices in the municipality of Serra- ES

Abstract

The school garden with agroecological practices is a pedagogical proposal with a view to reoccupying
the spaces of the school unit and above all to promote the practice of the cultivation of
food free of pesticides. This project was implemented in 2016 at the EEEFM Professora Juraci
Machado, with the help of students, teachers and the local community. With the objective of
promoting experiences of agroecological practices in the urban and school environment, the
project is expected to promote behavioral changes and social interaction among students. It
was performed the cultivation of four species of Unconventional Food Plants, four species of
medicinal plants and two species of fruit trees. Two species of leguminous were cultivated in
part of the terrain, aiming to improve nitrogen fixation. It is already possible to observe the
changes in the students regarding the improvement of teamwork and cooperation, as well as
the appreciation of the spaces of the school.
