Abstract

Extracts of specific plants may be option for the alternative treatment of seeds because in adequate concentrations they do not interfere in their physiology. The objective was to evaluate the effect of eucalyptus extract on the control of fungi and on the physiological quality of soybean seeds. The cultivars Sambaíba, Candeia and MSoy 9350 were used. The seeds were treated with eucalyptus extracts in concentrations of 5, 10 and 20%, immediately after being submitted to sanitary analysis, using the blotte test. The germination analysis was in accordance with the Brazil Seed Analysis Rule and the vigor through the first count. The positive effect of the concentrations of eucalyptus extract on the obtaining of seeds without contamination was noted, however, these negatively affected germination (normal seedlings) and favored seed death. The eucalyptus extract, in the tested concentrations, provides a reduction in fungi, but reduces germination and favors the mortality of soybean seeds.
