The aim of this report is present the experiences of those who have trained in community
communication relating to agroecology, led by Embrapa, in partnership with various social entities,
particularly non-governmental bodies from the highlands of Sergipe and the semi-arid highlands
of Alagoas. This training took place in 2015 and 2016 during four workshops attended
by over 100 people, including agroecology farmers, public servants, non-governmental technicians,
professional communicators, educators, public radio workers, journalists and agroecology
researchers. The main objective of the project was to reflect upon the role of communication
in the community and its direct relationship with local agroecological processes. The idea was to strengthen communication in these territories, encouraging the workshop participants to become
leaders in communication in their communities, thereby empowering farmers and giving
value to their knowledge.
