Abstract

The Crioula Seed Fair in Juti, MS aims to rescue the ancestral peasant tradition: to care for, conserve, protect and reproduce creole seeds, as well as to stimulate the system of exchange of creole seeds and information between farmers and peasant farmers and, educational institutions aiming at enhancing the Seed Guardians of Sociobiodiversity and the conservation of genetic heritage. The experiences lived during these 15 years at the Creole Seed Fair have become increasingly important for small farmers and indigenous communities to promote the recovery and valorization of healthy and pesticide-free products. The fair today is seen by the communities that participate in the event as a showcase and at the same time as an important alternative for the production with Creole seeds aiming at the defense of an agricultural model based on sustainable use. In addition to giving importance to prioritizing the preservation and conservation of the savanna, seeking to encourage the use of sustainable techniques for the exploitation of the resources derived from it.
