Abstract

Alimentamente, a socio-environmental education project, approaches in a critical and transdisciplinary
manner, subjects whitin the topics related to food and eating. In this project, culinary is
an educational tool. The project reveals, in an urban context, the political, social and environmental
role of food, through key-themes. Alimentamente, first ellaborated in 2014, executed in
2015 in Rio de Janeiro/RJ, has a partnership established with schools, public and private cultural
centers and companies. Alimentamente’s main target audience are children and teenagers
from both public and private schools, of all ages. The project has had, until the submission of
this paper, 1.480 students, from kindergarden until the adult age. Changes in eating and consumption
habits were observed among students. Through vegan recipes, using fresh, organic
and agroecological ingredientes, the political role of food as a resistance and socioenvironmetal
transformation instrument is brought to light.
