Agroecological garden as didactic space and promotion of food safety

Project that had the objective of establishing an agroecological garden to function as didactic
space. The target audience consisted of undergraduate academics, children from the Center
for Early Childhood Education, teachers of public schools and family farmers, settlers of
Agrarian Reform. The project was divided in four stages, being: (1) definition of the species to
be cultivated; (2) establishment of the garden; (3) validation of plants that have adapted to the
agroecological system; (4) use of the vegetable garden as didactic space. As a result, 28 species
were selected, the vegetable garden was implanted using recyclable materials, fertilization
with organic compost. There were training courses, workshops and child nutrition education
project. The project promoted the dissemination of agroecological production, promoting
the interaction of the University with the community and the promotion of Food and Nutrition
Security with sustainability.
