Abstract

Environmental Education through schools can be a valuable tool for more sustainable food
production. This link can be strengthened if it is associated with the implantation of productive
spaces in schools. The objective of this was to establish a garden with agroecological practices,
as an environmental education tool for elementary school students, at the São José
Municipal School, in the municipality of Rio Pomba / MG. The methodology used was the participative
one, involving, with agroecological practices for the implantation of the beds, focused
on environmental education and food safety. The activities were divided between rooms, for
planting workshops, production of seedlings, cultural treatments, harvesting and preparation
of these foods in the snack. The garden presented itself as a space capable of promoting, environmental
education, learning about the production and consumption of healthy and quality
food; A sustainable and possible alternative in small spaces.
