Organic pedagogical garden: from implantation to solidarity economy, through food and environmental education

The objective of this study is to analyze is reporting the experiences lived by the actors involved
in the deployment of four orchards pedagogical organic in four public schools in the city
of Leiria, with emphasis on educational impacts and economic these devices. Held on-site observations
and interviews semi-structured interviews with the actors involved from the planning
stage to the deployment of HOPs. It was noted that after the creation of the vegetable gardens
in schools, there was a greater openness to the consumption of vegetables and legumes by
students. The HOPs functioned as an educational space and a space for the production of
healthy foods, without the use of chemical inputs. The data obtained indicate that the HOPs positively
impact the development of environmental education and food, also promoting aspects
of the solidary economy. Contributing to a style of conscious life, integrating health, solidarity
and quality of life.
