The management of waste and solid waste in rural areas is a problem that has been spreading for years in Brazil and is considered one of the biggest challenges to be faced worldwide. We sought to identify the destination of garbage and solid and liquid waste, and to verify the perception of rural producers about environmental issues and conservation of natural resources in a rural community in the municipality of Caaporã-PB. Questionnaires were applied regarding training aimed at the conservation of natural resources; disposal of solid and liquid waste from homes, as well as environmental conservation practices adopted by each farmer. There is no training on environmental issues in the research area; few residents usually separate the garbage that is collected by the city hall. Farmers are aware of the damage that inadequate deposition of solid waste and garbage can cause to the health of humans, animals and the environment as a whole.
