Abstract

The text addresses the experience of the collective and school of political theater and popular video of Piauí "Cenas Camponesas", linked to the Center for Agroecology and Arts of the Gurguéia Valley (NAGU) of the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI) and a network of partner projects.  We specifically address the links between audiovisual and agroecological praxis in this context, explaining how documentary filmmaking can become a fundamental element of agroecological construction and, consequently, of the defense of peasant territories threatened by agribusiness, both methodologically and epistemologically. The documentary art of popular video is addressed as an element of agroecological pedagogy, insofar as it promotes the capacity to metaphorize life; the awareness, analysis, and critical registration of reality; and processes of information, training, and organization of communities so that the right to voice is guaranteed amidst the war of narratives. In turn, agroecological aesthetics and the dialogue of knowledge are revealed as elements of audiovisual narrative as artistic resistance.
