Interaction between the academic community, public schools and family farmers in northern fluminense

Abstract

This project aims to disseminate, encourage and promote agroecology in Campos dos Goytacazes,
RJ. It was implemented the Unit of Teaching, Research and Extension in Agroecology,
in the area of the Solar dos Jesuitas; Supports the Feirinha that takes place in the Agroecological
space Cícero Guedes, located in the campus of the UENF; Work in public schools in Tocos,
Campos District. There is strong interdisciplinary appeal, breaking paradigms still in force as
the sectorization of knowledge. The results are that the farmers are increasing their knowledge
in agroecological agriculture, with consequent improvement of the quality of life in the field
and reduction of the environmental impact. In addition, greater access to basic foodstuffs is
expected in sufficient quantities in settlements and other rural areas served, as well as greater
preservation of the environment and natural resources.
