The “Apêtê Caapuã Agroecological Learning Space” was created at the Federal University of São Carlos with the triple purpose of teaching, research and extension, therefore in accordance with the guidelines that govern the institution. In terms of teaching, as the name explains, it is a space designed for practical activities related to agroecology, where students of the institution can have direct contact with the cultivation of plant species (planting, handling, harvesting) from a systemic perspective; although for pragmatic reasons of proximity, these activities end up being developed primarily by students from the institution itself, people from the surrounding cities are also invited to know and participate, with visits from students from basic education schools being expected, which characterizes its extensionist vocation. In this space, several research projects are also taking place, so far linked to proposals for Scientific Initiation and Masters by UFSCar students, but it is foreseen the possibility that farmers from the surroundings can also participate with proposals.
