Agroecological indicators created for the Participatory Guarantee System of FECAOL in the province of Guayas

Abstract

Agro-ecological commercialization grows in an important way throughout the continent and the
efforts to guarantee these systems are very diverse, but almost all come from the same peasant
initiative, in Ecuador the same thing happens, led by organizations at all levels, FECAOL
as an organization. This has led to the creation of a participatory guarantee system (SPG) in
the province of Guayas based on a group of agroecological indicators, which were weighted
and standardized in a simple way (With a value of 1 to 3) for an adequate management of peasants,
who were tested in the evaluation of four peasant agroecosystems with a participatory
and inclusive methodology using as semi-structured interviews tool, where farm 1 and 2 show
greater diversity of plant species but none of the farms shows diversity of animal species, almost
all have left the use of agrochemicals except the farm 1 that makes periodic applications
