The use of agrochemicals has contaminated the environment and generated risks to human
health, which causes the producers to seek alternative methods for the management of phytopathogens
and herbivores. Among these methods are the use of syrup and vegetable extract.
Thus, the objective was to hold workshops in the rural area of Rio Pomba, MG, to raise awareness
among farmers about the use of alternative methods in phytosanitary management,
such as the use of Bordeaux syrup and neem and pepper extract. Five workshops were held in
five different communities. The workshops were participative and had participation of farmers,
technicians, teachers and students. During the workshops, everyone was able to expose their
experiences and difficulties with the alternative management of pathogens and herbivores,
which was important in the exchange of knowledge and integration between the participants in
order to strengthen the agroecological transition.
