Abstract

This summary aims to report the experience of the Our Horta Project, which implemented vegetable gardens in schools of the municipal education network in the Environmental Preservation Area of Alter do Chão, located in Santarém, state of Pará. The initiative took place through a partnership between the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of the State of Pará (Emater-PA) and the Municipal Secretary of Education of the municipality. The objective of the project was to strengthen Environmental Education activities in the teaching units and awaken interest in the school community in food production and the diversification of school lunches. In 2017 and 2018, activities were carried out in three educational units, actions were carried out collectively from the planning of activities: informative lectures, film club and practical actions of agroecological management. The activities were divided into three thematic axes: Agroecological vegetable garden; Living Pharmacy; and Healthy eating. The project contributed to the strengthening of the educational process and the development of healthy eating habits.
