Abstract

The Technologist in Agroecology graduation at the Technical College of Teresina, at the Federal University of Piauí, was born from the understanding that formal education in the agroecological field is an indispensable part of preparing the new generations for the struggle for the good life of all beings. The present work aims to bring information so that the course can know its student body in more detail. The research was carried out by the Nucleus of Experimentation in Agroecology of the Technical College of Teresina. For construction, a questionnaire was used, which dealt with social, political, economic and cultural themes. The course is being held mostly by young, low-income, childless, urban women who have values and beliefs compatible with this science. The survey also demonstrated the need to publicize the course in rural areas to enable rural populations to access it and to implement methodologies and actions that strengthen the students' social and political principles.
