Water and pedagogy of the oppressed: process of investigation of generating themes in agroecology
Keywords:
Environmental conflict, water, generating themes, settlement, struggleAbstract
This work is an account of activities developed in the FIOCRUZ course project, whose target
audience were residents of rural areas of northern Fluminense municipalities, in the state of
Rio de Janeiro. From a need to systematize concepts and categories determined by the “educandas”
living in the settlement Francisco Julião, worked the Pedagogy of the Oppressed by
Paulo Freire and the issue of water shortage in the settlement. It is known that environmental
conflict is a reality lived in this region, where there is a problem materialized in the lack and
quality of water, both for consumption and for sanitation. There are laws that determine that
water and sanitation are fundamental human factors, that is, people should have access to survive.
In this sense, the questioning of the pedagogical efficiency of “generating themes” arises
to incite social reflection, whose struggle for access to water is part of the current demands of
the environment.
