The Poisoned Ox Play: an experience of art and agroecology on the scene

This writing intends to dialogue the process of construction and experience of the agroecological
artistic performance: O Auto do Boi Envenenado (The Poisoned Ox Play). The performance,
first experienced in event Troca de Saberes (Exchange of Knowledge) of 2012, reinforces
the international campaign to combat the use of pesticides, interlinking with gender issues in
the environment of family agriculture. The performance, first experienced in the event Troca de
Saberes (Exchange of Knowledge) in 2012, brings to the scene the political discussion about
the non-use of pesticides, interconnecting with gender issues in the environment of family
agriculture. Inspirations for the play come from the project Agroecologia dos Saberes (CNPq),
which through the experiences with social task forces, brought the dialogues of the rural realities
of Zona da Mata Mineira area. Interlacing art and agroecology brings a perspective of
transforming the art-education on the scene, highlighting here a great potential for aesthetic,
artistic and agroecological actions. This experience report allows us to historically record the
experience of the performance that, between 2012 and 2013, circulated through some localities
of Zona da Mata, telling the story tale O Auto do Boi Envenenado (The Poisoned Ox Play)
and integrating the actions of agroecology in Minas Gerais state regional network.
