Abstract

The pollination carried out by bees, despite its relevant benefit to the sustainability of agroecosystems,
is not a widespread knowledge in schools, and still little glimpsed in Environmental
Education. The objective of this study was to diffuse the importance of stingless bees (ASF),
seeking to relate the pollination service performed by bees with the cycles of nature. Taking
advantage of the public that visits the Project Meliponários Didáticos, hosted in the Municipal
Nursery of Native Plants, of the City Hall of João Pessoa-PB, lectures were given to twenty-
-eight school children from three different schools and a questionnaire was applied before and
After the presentation, about the existence of ASF, addressing the importance, biology and
behavior. The answers obtained before the presentation of the lecture showed little knowledge
about the meliponíneos and, after the conclusion, in addition to arousing curiosity and interest
in the knowledge, a greater understanding of the importance of bees and their benefits.
