The dialogue of knowledge in the axis of agroecological formation in intercultural higher education in Chiapas

Abstract

Intercultural higher education was founded in the year of 2005 in Chiapas, with the purpose of
providing education to sectors that had historically been marginalized in access to the University.
It is thus, that Agroecology I incorporate as axis of education at the Bachelor’s degree in
sustainable development of the Intercultural University of Chiapas, which through the process
of community bonding was originally to be a process of dialogue of knowledge between the
knowledge of science from Western, with the corpus of knowledge from indigenous peoples.
In walking the intercultural educational proposal, there has been significant progress in the
inclusion of the agro-ecological proposal, but unfortunately it has not been possible to change
the perspective that considers to Agroecology as a set of techniques, or “recipes” for a reality
that is ever-changing and difficult especially processes of connection with reality. By what the
present paper analyze the achievements, limitations and strategies that have made possible
the development of the agro-ecological proposal in indigenous communities of Chiapas.
