This paper presents the results of the establishment of an experimental unit for the production
of eggs with an agroecological side in the Monte Alegre settlement, in the city of Araraquara,
Brazil, focused on the proposal of the formation of multiplier agents for transition processes.
In order to reach the desired goals, a diagnosis was made in 27 lots of family farmers in order
to raise the current production system. After this stage, an experimental unit focused on the
proposal of validation of alternative production techniques and a greater interlocution between
research and extension was constituted, mainly for the training of farmers aiming at the agroecological
transition in egg production. Therefore, several actions have been carried out in
this area, such as training courses and field days, as well as being an important space for the
exchange of experiences and knowledge among farmers, technicians, extension workers, students and researchers. Many of the activities carried out are propagated by their participants,
such as alternatives for disease control, equipment for use in poultry farming with alternative
materials available locally and at low cost, reproductive, productive and sanitary management
techniques, as well as broader discussions, such as The redesign of agroecosystems, mostly
conventional in the territory of action. The continuity of the work is focused on the two main
bottlenecks for the development of alternative poultry, the feeding of the birds, so that their
nutritional requirements can be met with organic ingredients and easily available in the settlements
and the formalization of the commercialization of the eggs, Have the seal of inspection
of the competent body.
