Soil and agroecology for basic education teachers: the experience of the Programme New Talents UFV

Agroecology is movement, science and practice that seeks to establish a new/renovated relationship
between humans and the environment. The teaching of agroecology in basic education
is incomplete and disconnected, despite it shows great potential to approach the transversality
of environmental issues. In this perspective, the course “Soils and Agroecology: transversality
and socio-environmental approach in natural sciences” was conceived for teachers of basic
education.of agroecology is unknown and little used in school environments. The course aimed
to contribute to the dissemination of Agroecology among school communities and to
strengthen soil education in basic education. The present report presents the construction and
development of the courses “Soils and Agroecology” for teachers of basic education carried
out in the years 2014 to 2016.
