Financial characterization of the agricultural production of Varginha, Ribeirão Branco-SP

Abstract

This report exposes the experience experienced in Operation Vale do Ribeira, Ribeirão Branco-
SP. The purpose of this operation was to assist local communities in their socioeconomic
and cultural development and to provide university students with a better understanding of the
Brazilian reality, instigating improvements to the problems observed. The contributions described
refer to the organization of agricultural production sustainably, to optimize the agroecosystem.
Initially, the seasonal calendar and cash flow were presented to the farmers and, later,
they characterized their production and exposed their expenditures. The analysis obtained
with these tools demonstrated low olive cultivation diversity and non-segregation of expenses.
Thus, reflections about some agroecological principles on the importance of increasing biodiversity
to reduce external inputs and the farmers’ association were some of the contributions
resulting from the actions developed.
