Abstract

Several factors among them, specific characteristics of the cultivar used, can interfere in the
symbiotic efficiency of specific inoculants of Rhizobium tropici under field conditions. The objective
of this work was to evaluate the effectiveness of biological nitrogen fixation for different common
bean cultivars in response to commercial inoculum of Rhizobium tropici. The experiment
was conducted in a greenhouse in June 2016. The experimental design was a randomized block
design with four replications, following a 6 x 2 factorial arrangement as defined: 06 common bean
cultivars recommended for Minas Gerais (Madre Pérola , Red Gold, White Gold, Majestic, Brave
and Carnival) and presence of inoculant (with or without Rhizobium tropici base inoculant). The
plants were collected at the beginning of flowering (at 35 D.A.E), being evaluated the dry matter
of shoot and root, besides the number of nodules per plant. Considering the conditions of this
work, it can be concluded that there is a differentiated response of the common bean cultivars
to the application of commercial inoculant of Rhizobium tropici, being that the cultivars Madre
Pérola, Ouro Vermelho, Ouro Branco and Valente presented higher production of aerial part phytomass
And nodules. In general, the cultivars evaluated showed higher phytomass production of
shoots, roots and nodules in response to the presence of the commercial inoculant.
