Course ecology and citizenship: an experience in alternating training in the northeastern Pará State, Brazil

The article shows aspects of the Course Agroecology and Citizenship, taught in alternation,
in the Training School for Young Farmers from Rural Communities in the Amazon (ECRAMA),
municipality of Santa Luzia do Pará, Northeastern Pará. The course is an initiative of the
Bragantina Network of Solidary Economy and Arts and Flavors, in partnership with public institutions
and non-governmental organizations. The activities are divided into school time and
community time. The target audience is the young farmers, from rural communities of Northeastern
Pará. With the main objective to advance the local sustainable development process,
as well as the training of family farmers to effectively manage the agroecosystems in the family
establishment, in the associative ventures of Rede Bragantina, and in the diffusion of good
economic practices Solidarity in the municipalities in the phase of organization of enterprises.
In 2016 were carried out four stages of school time and in 2017 will occur five stages. The
classroom modules of school time adopted varied pedagogical strategies, including circle of
culture, construction of trajectories, and experience reports. The community activities complement the theoretical contents, incorporating elements of the reality experienced by trainees in
their properties, communities and territories.
