Abstract

The leaf anthracnose of the common chives (Allium fistulosum, L.) has happened at commercial
family vegetable gardens in Santarém-PA. The olericulturists estimated that the death of
plants reach 10 to 100%. They not know the causal agent and, therefore, don’t get success in
control. This work aimed to teach them to identify and manage the disease by agroecological
measures. Then, introduce them in the conversion process from conventional gardens (CG) to
agroecological gardens. It was performed 5 visits in conventional gardens, between january
and april 2017, including, oral interviews (OIs), teaching-learning process (TLP) and individual
discussions (IDs). The OLs, TLP and Ids were efficients, although the olericulturists had difficulties
in assimilation of the disease sings and symptoms. The continuity of the extension activities
to identification and agroecological management of the plant disease and to conversion
process of the CG are necessary to the sustainability of the families.
