Abstract

In this work we present the process of interaction of theoretical and empirical knowledge from
the University Extension experience experienced by academics of the Agronomy course of
Ufopa by the Community Rural Family House School-CFR of Belterra, PA. The extension activity
in the CFR took place in the form of monitoring, through theoretical and practical classes,
and aimed to discuss with students the ecological principles to be guiding the school premises
stock and agricultural establishments. In practical activities, sought to alternative forms of production
according to the inputs available in the agricultural settlements of the students. During
the monitoring period were workshops on techniques of fertilization and production of fertilizers
by using low-cost organic substrates, using alternative methods of pest and disease control,
and the implementation of a vegetable garden to supplement the food provided at school.
