Abstract

This article proposes to analyze the themes of rural education and development in Brazil, particularly
in the Amazon region, based on the experiences of the Landless Workers Movement
under an interpretation of Southern Epistemologies. It aims to present the results of the Scientific
Initiation Project - PIBIC / FAPESPA / UEPA - entitled “Agroecological Development and
Field Education in the Amazon: an analysis of the MST experience under the Southern
Epistemologies approach”. It was possible to identify a reorientation in the MST’s repertoire
with the insertion of the agroecology theme.
