Agroecology as a tool for social transformation
Keywords:

The delay in the development of many municipalities in the south of Minas Gerais is closely
linked to socioeconomic factors. The region has great aptitude and tradition in coffee farming,
and its municipalities, mostly small, suffer from the lack of investments, technical assistance
and professional qualification, especially in agricultural activities, which basically move the
regional economy. This extension project aimed to bring to the community and rural producers
of Cabo Verde-MG, alternative solutions for qualification, inclusion, generation of employment
and income and, above all, to make the community aware of an integrated vision between
economic progress, environmental conservation and Social responsibility, which reinforces
the belief in the importance of extension for human development. In this context Agroecology
has become an important social transformation tool contributing to the strengthening of family
agriculture and regional development.
