Production costs of certified organic strawberry in a familiar unit

Abstract

The present work aimed to identify the main costs allocated in the certifiedorganic strawberry
productive chain in a property located in the region of Brazlândia-DF, encompassing all the
accomplished activities, since the soil preparation, planting, cultivation, agricultural input, handling,
harvest, transportation and commercialization. To reach such information a exploratory
research was made, which was based in the accomplishment of three steps: theoretical and
documental review; elaboration of a interview script and its enforcement; non-participant observation.
From this test became possible to verify the production costs in the studied property
and, therefore, the data analysis. With this study was detected that the organic strawberry
production is a viable option, both in the environmental and social aspects, due to the benefits
generated to the environment and to the producer.
