Intensity and time pruning of strawberry guava (Psidium cattleyanum) cv. Ya-Cy after frost

Abstract

Brazil has a great diversity of native fruit plants with potential for use in agriculture, especially
araçazeiro. Among the management practices, pruning can be used to various purposes in a
plant, Including stimulus to fast regrowth, what can be beneficial after frost. Thereby the aim of
this work was obtain information on the araçazeiro cv. Ya-Cy behavior when submitted to pruning
intensities in different periods after frost. A complete randomized block design was used
in a 3 x 3 factorial (pruning intensity x periods). Data were submitted to normality test, analysis
of variance, comparison of means and regression according to their kind. For the increase in
stem diameter and the reproductive structures production are favored with the pruning practice
realized approximately 40 days after the occurrence of the last frosts of the season.
