Abstract

This article aims to demonstrate the agricultural knowledge of the Ingarikó and Macuxi ethnic
groups in relation to land use and management. The research was carried out in the Raposa
Serra do Sol Indigenous Land and the São Marcos Indigenous Land, in Roraima. The methodology
involved on-site research, interviews with community members and elaboration of an
agricultural calendar. The results demonstrate that the Ingarikó Indians manage and use the
land based on empirical knowledge, and the calendar influences not only agriculture, but also
rituals and daily community life.
