The work proposes to present the research experience on coconut indaiá and how the knowledge
of traditional farmers in the rural settlement of Rio Bonito, in Cavalcante, Goiás, makes
use of this sociobiodiversity product. The research systematizes data on the traditional conservation
and management of coconut indaiá, a Cerrado species so alive in community life. The
proper management and conservation of the native coconut are fundamental elements for the
existence of the species and for the guarantee of the community of Rio Bonito as sociobiodiversa
and committed to agroecological practices, associating conservation of the Cerrado and
practices of planting and raising of animals in a traditional way.
