Fundos de Pasto: socio-biodiversity in the organization of agroecosystems

This article is the result of an investigation to understand how traditional Fundos de Pasto
communities organize their agroecosystems, focusing on the challenges of strengthening the
sustainability of natural resources and the reproduction of socioeconomic activities. The analysis
and understanding of socio-biodiversity aiming at the identification of vulnerabilities, of
problems, from the perspective of the peasants families. It addresses the dynamics organized
by social agents who call themselves “fundos de pasto” and are articulated around resistance
actions to ensure the possession and use of their traditionally occupied lands. These actions
are intended to put pressure on the State for the recognition of territorial rights, as well as to
demand the elaboration of administrative procedures for land regularization of “Fundos de
Pasto”. It analyzes the relationship between the territorialization processes and the specific
territorialities elaborated by the social agents themselves.
