The present work had as objective, to know as main species associated to the diet of the families,
and a dynamics of management and cultivation of foods plants in the traditional agroecossystems
of the community Canto Alegre, municipality of Coivaras in the state of Piauí.
Sampling was not probabilistic using a snowball technique, in which 23 key informants were
selected for the application of the semi-structured forms. The main traditional agroecosystems
related to the cultivation and management of food plants were: roças and home gardens. As
major species grown in the community for subsistence family farming. The community interviewees
