Abstract

Brazil has a history demarcated by conflicts that, in their great majority, are carried out by
social actors that involve the public power and the civil community. Quilombola communities
are the symbol of resistance and struggle for land. The present work is the result of an activity
carried out with the Quilombola Community of Pinguela located in the municipality of Amélia
Rodrigues / BA, whose objective was to know the relations that involve the land conflicts between
the Unitary Agricultural Union and the community in question. For the accomplishment
of the work we are based on participative methodologies and we use the tool “history of the
community”, with the intention of externalizing the vision of quilombolas on the local events.
Traditional communities and capitalism have something in common in relation to land, because
for both the land has value of SUPPORT. However, for capitalism it means the sustenance of
one’s own capital and this, at the expense of much exploitation of labor and natural resources.
