Abstract

This article aims to investigate the diversity of forms of use of plant species present in primary
and secondary forest areas in family agroecosystems in the Assurini Settlement Project in the
municipality of Altamira in the State of Para. We interviewed 43 families living in four Communities
in the Settlement. A total of 452 citations were cited by the families, with 293 citations of
species being obtained in the primary forests and 159 citations of species that are obtained
in the secondary forests. The category of medicinal use (44.4%) received the highest number
of citations, followed by construction (20.8%), food (16.7%), technology (9.7%) and handicrafts
(8.4% %). The results indicated a diversity of knowledge about the species present in the primary
and secondary forests, which contribute with a diversity of products in the dynamics of
family agroecosystems.
