The text that follows is an attempt to present some contributions of the Project of Indigenous
Environmental and Territorial Management (GATI) brought to light in the Terena indigenous
Lands of Taunay/Ipegue (County of Aquidauana), Lalima (Miranda) and Cachoeirinha (Miranda),
to local ethnodevelopment. The Project is the starting point of a new environmental, social,
cultural and economic context, especially relating it to a series of events that have been crucial
to create the current situation of the Terena People. The text briefly describes the efforts of the
GATI Project towards the conservation of traditional Terena streams of thought and practice, in
alignment with some contemporary principles of Agroforestry and Agroecology.
