Abstract

Over the years, the introduction of new production technologies aimed at high production of
more profitable and guaranteed market food, the farmer has neglected the cultivation of numerous
vegetable species. The extinction of these species is characterized as a cultural loss
to the regional community, as well as losses in the variability of feeding of these families in
the nutritional point of view. In order to do so, the UTFPR Educational Garden seeks to rescue
species of non-conventional food plants, as well as to serve as a bank, distribution and dissemination
of these species, presenting them to the community, in order to integrate a subsistence
diet, combining nutritional variability of the community Regional level, making possible
alternatives for family farmers in the Pato Branco-PR region. Integrated to this, the project still
consists of production based on agroecological sustainability, respecting its agricultural practices
in order to preserve and recover biodiversity.
