Abstract

Aimed to characterize, from the community statement, the occurrence of area mangaba extraction
and other plant species in town Jatoba, municipality Barra dos Coqueiros /SE. Data
were collected from the garbage workers of village mangaba through participatory mapping
tool. In the identification area was used the Global Positioning System (GPS). The collected
data were interpreted in the laboratory of photo interpretation CODISE. Four sites of plant
extract were observed. Extractive activities were concentrated in a Zone of Use Diversified
Intermediate, limited by marine terminal and the wind industry facility, where they were found
plant species traditionally used by the community. The pickers mangaba hold knowledge about
the occurrence of species on site, in particular on seed dispersal of mangaba, which may contribute
to the increase of plant cultivation in the region.
