Abstract

The objective of this work was to identify the presence of Agroforestry Agroecological Systems
in the Agro-Extractive Settlement Project (PAE) - Mamangal Island, Igarapé-Miri municipality,
Pará. In 2016, 130 settlers were interviewed, of which 28% stated that they have SAFs in their
lots, with the main reasons being diversification (production), family feeding and shade of the
açaí crop (Euterpe Oleracea Mart.). The agroforestry practice is mainly based on the interaction
of the man / nature from the knowledge transference of the Parents and / or family, knowledge
acquired through generations. The SAFs built by the traditional miriense community,
based on natural dynamics, guarantee food security, healthy food production, and guarantee
local environmental conservation. SAFs points out ways to discuss agroecological production
systems developed by traditional Amazonian communities.
